Informatics at Münster University
The University of Münster unites a wide spectrum of informatics with the Institute of Informatics as the core department, surrounded by the faculties of Information Systems, Geoinformatics, Bioinformatics (including working groups on Computational Biology and Evolutionary Bioinformatics), Medical Informatics, Didactics of Informatic and the Institute for Information, Telecommunication and Media Law. Münster is also home of the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS).
The “Zentrum für Informationsverarbeitung”
The “Zentrum für Informationsverarbeitung” (ZIV) is the service and competence centre of Münster University for IT-infrastructure, for communication and media technology, and for the transfer of media competence. The ZIV performs both centralised and decentralised services, including planning, installation, operating and support as well as service and maintenance. Furthermore, it supports activities on a decentralised level which refer to the whole communication network, the telecommunication system, audio-visual media, computers, system software and application software.
