Pre-booked delegates only. Meet at the entrance to the Congress Centre at 17.30 or at the embarkation point for the boat which is here<\/a>.
It is a 15 minute walk from the auditorium to the embarkation point. Anyone with mobility difficulties should think ahead to book a taxi.
The boat leaves at 18.00 and you need to allow time to check in.<\/p>\n

We are not planning a demanding hike on the islands. If you come to the Congress dressed casually (e.g. in jeans) you will be ready to depart.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0C\u00edes Islands\u00a0(Galician:\u00a0Illas C\u00edes<\/em>; Spanish:\u00a0Islas C\u00edes<\/em>) are an\u00a0archipelago\u00a0off the coast of\u00a0Pontevedra\u00a0in\u00a0Galicia, Spain, in the mouth of the\u00a0Ria de Vigo. They were declared a\u00a0Nature Reserve in 1980 and are included in the\u00a0Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park\u00a0(Parque Nacional Mar\u00edtimo-Terrestre das Illas Atl\u00e1nticas de Galicia<\/em>) created in 2002.<\/p>\n

The land is mountainous with rough, nearly vertical\u00a0cliffs\u00a0of more than 100\u00a0m (328\u00a0ft) on the western side, and numerous\u00a0caves\u00a0(furnas<\/em>) formed by\u00a0erosion\u00a0from the sea and the wind. The eastern side is less steep, covered by\u00a0woods\u00a0and\u00a0bushes\u00a0and protected from the Atlantic winds, allowing the formation of beaches and\u00a0dunes.<\/p>\n

The underwater area surrounding the C\u00edes forms one of the richest ecosystems on the Galician coast. The most remarkable feature is a significant forest of brown algae.<\/p>\n

The perimeter of the islands has different types of environments: the cliffs, exposed to strong waves, are populated by barnacles and mussels. In its underwater part, very rocky, you can find crabs, spider crabs, lobsters and octopuses.<\/p>\n

On the beaches of the most protected areas there are many bivalve molluscs, as well as turbot, plaice and sole. The rocky but protected areas of the interior of the islands are populated by true forests of anemones and numerous sea urchins.<\/p>\n

The waters surrounding the C\u00edes are usually visited by dolphins, whales and sea turtles.<\/p>\n

Archaeological remains can also be observed on the seabed.<\/p>\n
