Different applications of generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) have rapidly entered the world of higher education IT. University of Helsinki IT department conducted a case study of one of the contenders in the field of image generating AI: Midjourney to assess strengths and weaknesses in the context of higher education IT services. Although Midjourney was found to have impediments for a large-scale use at the present – in terms of licensing and learning curve due to user interface – it was found to be a powerful tool and the further development of Midjourney will be followed with great interest.
