Session II: The autonomous classroom: Is it the future?

The wide availability of MOOCs and other forms of online education created ample opportunities for flexible learning. The threat to traditional universities may have been initially overestimated, because the social and professional recognition of a traditional university degree is still strong. However, recent experiments with artificial intelligence (AI) platforms lead to the conclusion that we may not be able to distinguish between AI agents and human teachers in the near future, fostering an unprecedented digital transformation of the classroom.
