Jean-François Dechamp
Jean-François Dechamp works in the area of research policy at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. As a policy officer, he has been behind the developments of open access to scientific research results in the European Union. More recently, he has been contributing to the promotion of Open Science, in particular with an emphasis on copyright/licensing issues and on alternative metrics in scholarly publishing.
Before joining the European Commission in 2005, he held various posts in Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and China, focusing on European affairs for the pharmaceutical industry, health advocacy and humanitarian aid.
He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Strasbourg, France.
He is the author in particular of a chapter on Access to HIV/AIDS Treatment in China in the book "AIDS and Social Policy in China" published by the Harvard University Asia Centre in 2006.
