“Learning Analytics and the GDPR”
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) contains six legal bases for processing personal data. Breaking down the process of using learning analytics into different stages allows an appropriate legal basis to be chosen for each of them. This talk will show how this choice of bases results in legal requirements that match the needs of both institutions and their students. Regulators’ guidance on each of these bases provides a framework that can reassure students, teachers, institutions and their wider stakeholders that learning analytics is being used both effectively and safely.
