Nick Skelton
Nick Skelton is a strategic independent HE consultant. His chief interest is the intersection of technology and organisational cultures: using digital to improve ways of working and learning. He has continually explored new horizons over a 20 year career in the HE sector.
In 1998 Nick founded the ResNet service at Bristol University, one of the first broadband services for students in university accommodation. In 2011 as Head of IT Infrastructure Nick was an early adopter of cloud services, deploying
Google Apps for all students and staff.
In 2017 as Programme Director he led a Digital Workspace for Bristol, so that staff could work from any location and on any device. The Digital Workspace was based on technology in Office 365, but more importantly it introduced new cultures, etiquettes and working practices.
Nick went independent in 2019. He works as his own one person-firm and as part of the larger team at SUMS Consulting, a not-for-profit HE consultancy organisation. He has spoken at events including the TERENA Networking Conference, Jisc Networkshop, and the UCISA Leadership Conference.
