Getting there
From Riga Airport (RIX) to the city centre:
Bus No. 22 · 20–40 min
€1.81, paid by bank card to the driver. The N22 night bus runs every hour for late arrivals and early departures.
Taxi · 15–25 min
About €10–25. Licensed companies include Red Cab and X-Taxi; you can also use the Bolt and Forus apps.
Getting around
Buses, trams and trolleybuses connect RSU, the hotels and the city centre, usually in 10–20 minutes. Tram line No. 1 is the easiest way between the city centre and RSU.
Can I just tap my bank card? Not on trams and city buses: there you need a ticket. Paying by bank card to the driver is only possible on airport bus No. 22.
The easiest way: the Mobilly app
- Download Mobilly before you travel and add your bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- In the app, go to City and buy a 3-day or 5-day ticket for Riga public transport.
- Each time you board, scan the QR code inside the tram or bus to validate your ticket. Show the ticket in the app if a controller asks.

Good to know
Plugs and electricity
Latvia uses European two-pin sockets (type C and F), 230 V and 50 Hz. Coming from the UK, Ireland, Malta, Cyprus or outside Europe? Pack a travel adapter. Most phone and laptop chargers work on 230 V.
Weather in June
Usually mild: around 20 °C during the day and 10 °C at night, with some showers. Days are long, with about 18 hours of daylight. Pack layers and a light rain jacket.
Money
Latvia uses the euro (€). Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted. Tipping is optional; rounding up the bill is common for good service.
Time zone
Eastern European Summer Time (UTC+3), one hour ahead of Central European Time.
Drinking water
Tap water is safe to drink, so bring a reusable bottle.
Language
The congress language is English. The local language is Latvian; English is widely spoken in Riga.

Accessibility
The RSU main building is step-free: a ramp in the ground-floor lobby leads to the cloakroom, canteen, lifts, library and Great Hall, with no steps or thresholds to the lecture halls. Lifts are adapted for people with reduced mobility or visual impairments, there are accessible toilets, and guide dogs are welcome. Need support? Email congress@eunis.org.
