Benny Johnson
Benny leads the research effort for Vitalsource on using artificial intelligence (AI) to create pedagogically sound courseware from textbooks automatically and at scale.
He has spent fifteen years working on AI in education, beginning at Carnegie Mellon University (where he acquired his BSc and Phd) and moving to Vitalsource when they acquired the technology he developed.
He is the author of over fifty scholarly publications in academic journals and books, has delivered invited lectures at many national and international conferences and been principal investigator on various research and development projects,
He is a recipient of the Tibbetts Award: the highest recognition given by the US federal government to small businesses for innovative research. In 2007 he was inducted into the University of Kentucky's Alumni Hall of Fame. He enjoys playing music and lifting weights with his son.
