Ed Simons Ed Simons
Radboud University, The Netherlands (Parallel track) Ed Simons holds the position of Seniorj Project Manager Research Information at Radboud University, The Netherlands and is currently the President of euroCRIS, the International Organisation for Research Information. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences. During his Ph.D. work, Ed developed an interest in the application of IT for research and more specifically for research information. As a result of this, Ed, for many years was involved as project leader in IT-development projects within the academic community, both on a local (university), national (Netherlands) and international level. He was the project leader of the development of METIS, a current research information system (CRIS) which was used by all Dutch universities for many years. On the international level, Ed directed projects for the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) (for which he took the position of information manager for nearly 20 years) , the International Association of University Presidents (IAIUP), and NUFFIC, the Dutch governmental organisation for university development cooperation. Various of his projects were dedicated to and in cooperation with universities in developing regions, more specifically in Africa and Latin America. Currently Ed is leading a project at Radboud University, in cooperation with DANS, the Dutch National Data Hosting Service, aimed at optimal Management and Archiving of Research Data.
