Panel Discussion:
Rage against the machine: what does AI mean for assessment practice in higher education? #44
There has been an explosion of interest and discussion across the globe on how artificial intelligence (AI) is disrupting the status quo across all stages of education. Tools like Chat GPT-3 and others are causing concern from educators about the risk they pose to academic integrity and the threat to maintaining academic standards.
The panel will discuss the challenges that AI brings to education and also consider whether our response should be to mitigate risk by restricting use of such tools or whether their existence might serve as a stimulus to rethink assessment design for the better.
The panel will draw on examples of current practice from across the UK, Europe and Australia.
