Mischa Beckers
Professor Mischa Beckers is head of the Data Science research group within HZ University of Applied Sciences (HZ UAS). The group’s research portfolio covers applied science projects with stakeholders from profit, non-profit and governmental organizations, as well as other universities. Topics are for instance data fusion methods for situational awareness in autonomous sailing, predictive maintenance for rotating equipment in bridges, locks and sewer systems, but also models for waste water treatment and mitigation of bias in citizen science data on biodiversity. At HZ UAS the research group is actively involved in developing educational programs on data science, teaching, and integrating research projects in the curriculum. Its home base is the Data Science Lab in the Joint Research Center Zeeland, in Middelburg, the Netherlands.
