Giorgos Paraskevopoulos (Ph.D.) earned his PhD in 2024 and Integrated Master's in 2016 from the National Technical University of Athens. His PhD thesis, titled "Cognitively Motivated Machine Learning for Dimensionality Reduction and Domain Adaptation of Speech and Language Models in Resource-Constrained Settings," was supervised by Prof. Alexandros Potamianos. Giorgos has extensive industry experience, having worked as a software engineer at Intracom Telecom and a machine learning engineer at Behavioral Signals. He also gained significant applied research experience during his internships with the Alexa team at Amazon Lab126 and AWS AI Labs in 2019 and 2022. Since 2020, Giorgos has been an associate researcher at the Institute for Speech and Language Processing, Athena RC. He has co-authored over 20 publications in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals, amassing over 500 citations. As an IEEE/SPS student member, he has contributed as a reviewer for top-tier conferences such as ACL, AAAI, and ICASSP. Giorgos is an active open-source contributor and has participated in several national and European research projects, including AI4EDU, Safety4All, and Babyrobot. His research interests include the extraction and fusion of multimodal representations, cognitively-inspired architectures, and the adaptation of neural networks to unseen domains.
