Sebastião F. Azevedo Sebastião F. Azevedo
Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo, born in Porto, Portugal, in 1951. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wales (1982). Since 1998, he is full professor of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP). Presently he is: Rector of the University of Porto and Representative of the Council of Portuguese Rectors in the Bologna Follow-up Group. In the recent past he was: Dean of FEUP; Vice-president of ENAEE-European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education; Special Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education and National Coordinator of the Bologna Process; Delegate to the Bologna Follow-Up Group; Chairman of the Working Party on Education of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering; National Vice-president of the Portuguese Institution of Engineers. He is the recipient of the Dieter Behrens Award, 2013, highest distinction of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering. He received the Gold Medal of the City of Paredes, Portugal, and was made Honorary Citizen, in a ceremony that took place in the Municipality on the 18th of July, 2016 On the 9th of February 2018 he was distinguished with the Honoris Causa Doctorate, by the Tbilisi State University, Georgia.
