Two prominent members of the Think Tank coordination team, Dr. Gill Ferrell and Dr. Christien Bok, presented at the Bett conference, which was held in March 2023. The Think Tank played a significant role in the conference, contributing valuable insights and expertise on important topics in education technology.
Dr. Ferrell’s session focused on the design of learning experiences and digital ecosystems based on organizational values. She provided attendees with a starting point for academic staff to articulate a set of principles that guide learning design, identify key areas for change, and explore what implementing each principle means in any learning context. She also discussed how open standards have revolutionized the EdTech ecosystem and how they are essential for creating a flexible and interoperable digital learning ecosystem.
Dr. Bok’s session focused on creating a European digital ecosystem for education based on public values. She discussed how the current point solutions developed to support international student mobility hinder the interoperability necessary for a digital ecosystem, and how standardization and cooperation within the education sector are necessary to create a seamless ecosystem that supports European values.
The Think Tank coordination team’s contributions to the Bett conference were invaluable, providing attendees with innovative ideas and practical solutions for creating a digital ecosystem that supports learner potential and public values. Their insights and expertise reflect the Think Tank’s commitment to driving innovation in education technology and supporting the growth of a flexible, interoperable digital learning ecosystem.
