Serge J. Goldstein Serge J. Goldstein
Associate CIO for Academic Technology Services, Princeton University OIT Dr. Goldstein received his undergraduate degree and his Ph.D. from Yale University in the US.  After teaching graduate courses in quantitative methods, statistics and physical anthropology at NYU and Columbia, Dr. Goldstein shifted his focus to Information Technology.  He began working with computers in the age of I.B.M. punch cards, and he has occupied a variety of positions in the Information Technology field, ranging from systems programming to application development in a number of languages (s/370 assembler, PLI, Algol, Fortran, C, and PHP).    For the past 30 years, Dr. Goldstein has worked in the IT office of Princeton University, starting as a systems programmer in charge in the VM/370 operating system, and working his way up to his present position as Associate CIO for Academic Technology Services.  Along the way, Dr. Goldstein built Princeton’s first University web site, and his team currently manages the University’s web presence, as well as its Learning Management System and numerous other Academic Technology services.  He has given talks at Educause and other IT conferences on topics ranging from the evolution of the LMS to the use of IT systems to manage pervasive problems with student retention and student success.
