Founder of EUNIS in 1992 and since then a tireless and enthusiastic promoter of our association, which he chaired, Prof. Yves Epelboin passed away on 2 September 2024, in Paris at the age of 80.

A highly respected university professor, he spent his entire career at Pierre and Marie Curie University (now part of Sorbonne University) in Paris. Originally a researcher in physics, he developed a passion for computing, starting in his laboratory and expanding to the university level as head of the educational computing service, as well as through his lectures. Through this work, he gained a national, European, and international reputation of the highest level.

His dedication to the European community of university computing was impressive.

Deeply involved in EUNIS for thirty years, Yves was highly valued by his colleagues on the board and by all members for his expertise, altruism, and selflessness. He made enormous contributions to EUNIS, dedicating much of his personal time and participating in all events and meetings until 2020.

Despite health difficulties in recent years, he continued his involvement with EUNIS until 2024, actively participating in the reviewing committees of recent congresses. Always available to help, his advice remained invaluable and of the highest quality.

The loss of such an exceptional leader is a great loss for our European association and beyond.

The President, the Board, and the members of EUNIS send their sincere condolences to his children and family.
