Pekka Kähkipuro, CIO, Brunel University London, UK

Elected to the EUNIS Board of Directors till June 2021

Pekka Kähkipuro is the Chief Information Officer at Brunel University London (UK) since January 2016. He is heading the Information Services Directorate responsible for ICT, Media and Library services for the university. Prior to joining Brunel, Pekka was Director of IT at Aalto University in Finland and, before that, he held various senior roles in the private sector including Nokia and a number of other IT companies. Pekka obtained his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Helsinki in 2000. He was a President of EUNIS from June to December 2015.

He is interested in the following activities in particular within his contribution to EUNIS:

  • Supporting selected task forces (I have already contributed to the Student Card, Bencheit, BI and Learning and Teaching task forces)
  • Building and strengthening international and corporate relationships, including marketing related activities
  • Developing EUNIS to be a key player in the European higher education forum
