Jan Madey, M.Sc., Ph.D., D.Sc., full professor of Computer Science, Rector’s Deputy for Multimedia Education at the University of Warsaw, Poland, a past Vice-Rector of this University. The Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of National Education (on IT in Education), the Vice-Chairman of the General Council for Science and Higher Education, a member of the Computer Science Committee at the Polish Academy of Sciences and a member of some other bodies.
The author of over 120 papers, reports and books on programming languages, operating systems, software engineering and computer science education. He spent over 10 years in leading educational institutions in the Western Europe and the North America. Guest Professor of Harbin Engineering University in China. A member of the ACM, IEEE, the Society for Software Engineering, the Polish Mathematical Society and the Polish Information Processing Society.
Since 1994 he has been coaching student teams advancing to the World Finals of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (winning twice: 2003 in Beverly Hills and 2007 in Tokyo). He is also the National Organizer of the European Union Contest for Young Scientists.
