During the 1EdTech Learning Impact Europe gathering, we ran a live Mentimeter and the results were telling: most participants felt confident about European initiatives like the Digital Education Hub and University Alliances, but less so about identity, data exchange, and APIs. It showed that while the building blocks are there, we still speak many “digital dialects.” Yet the enthusiasm was contagious — the screen filled with emojis as people shared projects like EduAPI, OOAPI, and EduXS, and called for more spaces to connect these efforts.
For me, that’s exactly what EUNIS stands for: turning complexity into connection. Seeing our community come together — openly, curiously, and with humour — reminded me why this work matters. Every conversation like this brings us one step closer to a truly interoperable and value-driven digital future for European education. — Evelien Renders,(SURF). EUNIS President.
