Retired in August 2009 from Université Joseph Fourier (UJF) in Grenoble, France, Dr Jean-François Desnos has been Head of Information Systems at UJF (1984-1995), then in charge of the MIS Department for the five Grenoble Universities (1996-2005).
He led the French national Data Wharehouse Project (2000-2002) for the consortium “Agence de Mutualisation des Universités et Etablissements” (AMUE), and the Development team of the GRAAL French IT national project about an Information System on Research (2002-2009). He led the “smartcard project” for Grenoble Universities from 2006 to 2010.
As the UJF representative at the European University Information Systems Organization (EUNIS), he became Member of the Board, Treasurer (1997-2005) and President (2006-2009). He is from his retirement in 2009 the EUNIS Executive Secretary (part time), and presently cooperates with a European team to the writing of a book on “Institutional Intelligence” in universities.
He was a Visiting Professor at Drexel University, Philadelphia, USA in 1998, a World Bank expert for an IT project in Jordan Universities in 1999, and a senior consultant for the Ladok consortium in Sweden from 1997 to 2000. Jean-François’ degrees include Ingénieur-Mathématicien ENSIMAG (Grenoble Computer Science School), Docteur-Ingénieur Université de Grenoble, and a post-doc in Québec, Canada (E-learning Laboratory, Ministry of Education). He is awarded Chevalier des Palmes Académiques and Médaille de la ville de Grenoble.
