Carmen Díaz Romero, SIGMA AIE, Spain

Short bio

Carmen Díaz is the product manager at SIGMA, a Higher Education Institutions Group based in Spain, which offers services and IT solutions for improving the academic and research management of more than 30 Spanish institutions.

She’s a computer engineer with more than 15 years of experience. Her entire professional career has been linked to higher education institutions, from different points of view. As a product manager, she has a close relationship with Spanish higher education institutions and disposes a strategic vision of how universities evolve and adapt to these changing times. This position has allowed her to expand her knowledge on how institutions of higher education work and also expand the vision on what aspects have greater influence, future needs, aspects that should evolve and different strategic lines of support.

Motivations:

  1. Why do you want to join the EUNIS Board?

In my experience, I believe that digitisation processes are extremely important and crucial to the development of both individual institutions and countries as a whole. It is true that there are numerous initiatives in each country, but I firmly believe that Europe must have a common digitisation strategy that is firmly established in all Member States. I believe that EUNIS offers significant strategic support and should play this key role by actively participating in driving this change across institutions and beyond borders.

  2. How will you contribute to EUNIS and its strategic priorities?

With nearly a decade of active involvement in the EUNIS community and my experience of working alongside Spanish higher education institutions on digitization projects, I am able to offer insights into how these institutions are evolving and how EUNIS can assist with their digitization and modernization efforts

Furthermore, in my opinion, the path EUNIS has embarked upon over the last two years is extremely interesting, and I feel fully committed to the current board members; It is my wish to continue contributing and being part of this team to achieve greater success and position EUNIS in a much more prominent role, facilitating connections for member institutions, enabling the sharing of resources, and promoting the exchange of information and best practices that allow for the unification and standardization of criteria and decision-making.
