Motivations:
- Why do you want to join the EUNIS Board?
My decision to apply to join the EUNIS Board is primarily based on the following reasons:
• Having been an active member of the EUNIS Community for over 10 years and a co-opted member of the Board of Directors since October 2024, I have firsthand experience and already understand the value of participating in a network that broadens my perspective, both personally and in terms of what I can contribute to my institution.
• Especially now, we face numerous challenges, including meaningful digital transformation, cybersecurity, AI evolution, and the retention of personnel with essential skills and technical expertise. While a one-size-fits-all solution doesn’t exist, being part of this team helps me gain different insights.
• Furthermore, my involvement will enable me to highlight the importance of these issues within my institution and strengthen the role of the Digital Governance Unit.
• Last but not least, the mission statement of the Digital Governance Unit at Aristotle University is to be a shaper in digital transformation, not merely a consumer. There is significant common ground between our mission and EUNIS’s strategic priorities. Contributing to a team with similar goals presents an interesting and worthwhile endeavor. - How will you contribute to EUNIS and its strategic priorities?
With over a decade of active involvement in the EUNIS community and my leadership as Director of the Digital Governance Unit at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the biggest comprehensive university in Greece, I bring a deep understanding of the digital landscape in European higher education. My experience leading a large IT team of over of 100 people equips me with practical insights crucial for institutional resilience, a key EUNIS focus.
My expertise in learning technologies and digital transformation, recognized as best practice at EUNIS congresses and through project participation, enables me to contribute to innovation in learning technologies. Collaborating on our university’s digital transformation plan offers a valuable perspective on strategic planning.
My recent appointment as Treasurer of the EUNIS Board, has allowed me to contribute to financial stability and collaboration of the organization. My institution’s “shaper, not consumer” approach strongly aligns with EUNIS’s mission. I am keen to leverage my experience and network to support EUNIS’s strategic priorities and advance digital transformation across European universities.
