EUNIS and 1EdTech collaborated to organise a Think Tank on the digital ecosystem for education. We welcomed participants represented over 30 separate organisations including European University Alliances, NRENS, shared services and Europe-wide organisations representing students and quality assurance bodies.

The Think Tank represents the first step towards a consultation paper and action plan to ensure that the digital transformation of education aligns with European public values and delivers the lifelong learning that European nations and citizens need. Read our initial briefing and find out about next steps here.

Following our Think Tank in Brussels (more info here) members of the co-ordination group and SIGs participated in a series of workshops to validate and refine our findings in Berlin at the invitation of the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH).

There was considerable synergy with the original findings and our EUNIS/1EdTEch Think Tank group will join forces with an EDEH ‘Squad’ to publish some of the outcomes for wider consultation.

Outputs will include:

·         a vision statement
·         a set of interoperability principles for education – sector-wide
·         analysis of the challenges in a problem statement: Why is it necessary to collaborate, and what are the risks if we don’t?
·         a blueprint for an infrastructure
·         a framework for collaboration, to be able to collaborate in the current complex landscape with numerous, not always interconnected, parties.

We also reviewed a Proof of Concept of mapping the educational environment (organisations, projects, standards, etc) created by SURF. Your feedback on the approach is requested via: www.eduxs.eu/feedback.

Key updates will be published in this newsletter and you can also find related information in the EDEH community site.
